Anzasca Valley
The main tourist centre in the Anzasca Valley is Macugnaga, a beautiful Alpine resort located west of the main Ossola Valley. The Walser village (the Walser were a German-speaking people who settled parts of the Alps in the Middle Ages) is dominated by the imposing east face of Monte Rosa, which at 4,634 metres is one of the finest snow and rock faces in the whole of the Alps.
All of the Anzasca Valley is a perfect blend of culture, art, nature and sport, and offers endless opportunities for rock climbing, walking, hiking and skiing. Not to be missed is a visit to the Walser House Museum in Borca, and to the old Gold Mine of Guja.
