Sport and nature

The Lake Maggiore area offers a wide range of sporting activities and direct contact with nature. Among the area’s parks are the Val Grande National Park, the largest wilderness area in Italy, the Regional Park of Alpe Veglia and Devero, and the Animal Oasis of Macugnaga, at the foot of Monte Rosa.

There are dozens of country areas perfect for hiking or cycling, such as the Nature Reserve of Fondotoce, the Nature Park of the Lagoni of Mercurago, or Stresa’s Mount Mottarone. Water sports are of course a popular option, but there is also riding, and golf, for example at Stresa’s splendid courses, the Golf Club des Iles Borromées and the Alpino Golf Club.
