Verbania and Ghiffa
Verbania is one of the most popular tourist resorts on Lake Maggiore, thanks to the great number and quality of the artistic and natural attractions of the area.
The town itself has much to offer: Villa San Remigio, with its gardens and the nearby tiny Romanesque church; the marvellous Botanic Gardens of Villa Taranto; San Leonardo Church with its fine broad steps; the 19th century Town Hall, and Villa Giulia; Palazzo Viani-Dugnani and Palazzo Biumi-Innocenti, which house the art collections of the Museo del Paesaggio (“Landscape Museum”).
Just a few kilometres outside Verbania is the delightful village of Ghiffa, home to one of the most intriguing museums in the lake area, the Hat Museum.
